Youth Group

In the subterranean consciousness that is my mind, I passed through the International Date Line to arrive in Australia, where the light shone upon Youth Group. Their fourth studio LP release, The Night Is Ours, just dropped in the US on the 7th of April. Everything they produce is catchy, beautiful, and melodic. Longevity is in their music and that is what I love. Make sure to listen to “Start Today Tomorrow,” producer, Chris Walla stepped in on the remix and it is truly wonderful.

The first time I saw Youth Group was October of 2005, they were opening up for this little band that was breaking into a new world of mainstream, Death Cab for Cutie. These guys were one of the most memorable opening acts, I have ever seen. Luckily, Youth Group got a lot of attention for their remake of Alphaville’s “Forever Young” for Music from The OC: Mix 5 (Thank you for putting intelligent music on The OC, Alexandra Patsavas). As for now, they are doing their first headline US tour and will be in Minneapolis, May 5th at the Triple Rock. Get your tickets here. See you there.
